Places to visit:-
St.Francis church Fort Kochi: The Protestant church was originally built by Portuguese in 1503 AD and is believed to be the oldest church built by the Europeans in India. it is here the remains of the inveterate traveler, Vasco da Gama were initially buried and 14 years later, its mortal remains were taken to Lisbon, Portugal.
Chinese Fishing Net Fort Kochi: The Chinese fishing net that line the sea-front and exhibit a mechanical method of catching fish, introduced by Chinese trade .
Santa Cruz Cathedral (Basilica) Fort Kochi: Roman Catholic Church situated close to St Francis Church. Some beautiful paintings can be seen here.
Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace): Also Known as Dutch palace built by the Portuguese and presented to the Raja of Kochi in 1557 AD, it acquired the present name after 1663 when the Dutch carried out extension and the repairs in the palace. Its interiors are decorated with murals from the Ramayana and there are some lively displace of royal costumes and palanquins.

OPEN: 10.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs. Closed on Fridays and national holidays.

Jewish Synagogue- Mattancherry: Built in 1568 AD. The Great Scrolls of Old Testament, the copper plates in which the grand’s of privilege made by the Cochin rollers were recorded and the exquisite Chinese hand painted tiles are of interest.

OPEN: 10.00hrs to 12.00 hrs and 15.00 hrs to 17 hrs. Closed on Saturdays and Jewish Holidays.

Bolghatty Palace: Bolghatty Palace is situated in Bolghatty Island a narrow palm fringed Island easily accessible from the main land. The Palace was built by the Dutch in 1744 later it become the seat of British Resident of Cochin and today this has been converted into a hotel by KTDC.
Hill Palace Museum (Tripunithura): Hill palace museum is suited 12 Kms away from Ernakulam on the Ernakulam Chottanikara route. Different type of sculptures, collection of rare coins, old weapons, manuscripts in ancient lipis and collection from the Cochin Royal family is exhibited here. Tourist may also visit the beer park situated there.

OPEN: 9.00 hrs to 12.30 hrs and 14.00 hrs to 6.30 hrs. Closed on Mondays and national holidays.

Admission: Rs .11/- per adult and Rs.7/- per children, camera Rs.20/- video camera Rs.1500/- for photography.

Cherai Beach: This lovely beach bordering Vypeen Islands ideal for swimming. Dolphins are occasionally seen here, a typical Kerala village with paddy fields and coconut groves nearby is an added attraction.
Cheraman Juma Masjid: The first mosque in India situated 52 Kms. away from Kochi. It was built in 629 A.D. and resembles a Hindu Temple in appearance. There are bus services from Ernakulam.
Kalady (35 km from Kochi): The birthplace of Adi Sankaracharya , the great Advaita Philosopher of the 8th century. According to legends, a crocodile caught hold of him and refuse to realize him until Sankara’s mother Aryamba permitted him to a Sanyas.
